Weston has it easy today....Finally.

Yesterday was a great day fro us. He started out with so much energy he was not sure what to do with himself. I could feel it building. He was like a little kid on valentines day. Whew. He could not hold still. Then in his third halter class he reared all the way up, as high as the lone ranger or trigger ever did, came back down and you could almost see the ahhh. I did correct him firmly as that is such a no no. He was so good in all his classes. When he got behind a solid horse he was happiest. We won 9 blues, four reds, two whites, and two pinks. He won high point, and a helmet bag for english. He moved out so pretty and was very collected through english. Western he has forgotten his slow lope, so we will be going back to work on that next. His jog and walk trot classes were flawless. I could feel it. It felt so consistant.

Today was a day of rest, however we jumped at the chance to load with a ramp into a single horse, Brender up trailer. He walked right in stood quitly, and backed nicly out-twice. I was very happy. With our pocket of Berry-Good treats I asked for the spanish walk, just saying up he took four steps. He is so smart, and very willing to please.

I am overwhelmed by the reponce we are getting. I am so thankful for all of your support. You motivate me to see how far we can go. I am so excited. You acts of love, kindness, and support are so appriciated. I have been very emotional about it all. It is amazing. I was moved to tears when he won his first class yesterday, and stunned as he won a high point, against horses that have years of training. I have had some watery eyes along the way, but wait until expo-I will be a fountain.

Our Open House is Feb 28th-This Sat. at our barn at 1:00. Please pass on to all who might be interested in seeing what a "wild" horse can do. Swaet shirts will be on sale too-35.00, all proceeds go to Mustang Herritage Foundation-to purchase Weston....If I can afford him. Here are the greta pic taken at the show by Jeanetta Hodges.

Weston wins Blues!!! and a few more hearts....

We had a great day at the Pacific Riding Club Schooling show. Weston cleaned up in his english classes. Did great in western, but our canter is way to enghlish and way too fast. We have to work for our slow western lope again. His trot, both english and western were wonderful. He was so beautifully collected all day. Showmanship was okay-he had too much energy until I rode him a while. He had a huge burst of energy and reared and then it was over. Goodness. He is happy to be around all the people and horses. He like it a lot. He drinks any water.

He won High point english! Wow.  We have some pretty new ribbons to bring to our stall at expo now.....

Okay I will drive you all nutty, but I have to move our open house-AHHHH. Conflict of a show at the expo center we just cannot miss....Open house is gonna be the 28th at 1:00 ........ Spanish walk with Kallee in tow. Ellie did her 1st walk trot by herself....

Wes gets his second bath, and works on his leg lifts...

Weston stood quitly for his second bath ever-hot or cold water, loved being bathed up. Ellie held the lea din the back of the truck for me. I figured that kept her in a safe spot if he moved-although he never did.

He really liked the hay in the back of my truck-alfalfa fro the cows-yummy stuff...Off to the horse show in Lincoln city tommarow. It is so ggreat to go somewhere completly new and see how he feels. He looks great. So pretty all cleaned up. I don't think anyone would recodnize him, from our starting point. I think his coat is truly a brindle, he has even grulla, and black hairs everyhwhere...

wow-what 10 minutes can teach me!
I looked up how to teach spanish walk online, and it was easy as the lines say. Weston got the idea with both feet in less than 10 minutes. Wow. He is smart. Too willing, now he knows the legal way to beg. I can't wait until tommarow to try it walking...

Weston goes english.

So there is a tiny schoolong show at green acres Sat, so I thought let's throw on a english saddle and bridle. I hate to say he was perfect, but he was absolutly on key. I actually onlly worked 20 minutes. Every request was met with a yes. He transitioned smoothly from one gait to another. I think he was very happy to be back in the snaffle. Funny, he just didin't care. Still trying to get bow with out toutching. I am excited to see how he does in a new place, and how he does in his classes against some horses who have been at this a long time. Too fun. No trail class though:(

It is too much fun to ahve a horse that always talks to you-always. Nickers and neighs like he sees a heard mate. Tommarow we will work out, bath, and re-totch our clip job. Practice our groming for the big times. My shirts came in also-I want to make finals. I am ready.

We are hosting our Open House for Team Weston here-March 7th 1:00. COme one come all. We can't wait to show you how far we have come...and hear coments. Team weston Sweatshirt avalible too...

Dates and times for Team Weston! Get ready the count down continues...

I thought I would share a recent email, as it has great info and details about dates and times. Weston has been getting many visitors, and our blog is now being read in England....Hello Katie-tons of love.

We had a short work out about a half hour, but we worked jog, flying lead changes, lay down, bow, and took a trail ride after. He is very talented, and very smart, but I am seeing glimpses of opinion. Like hm, I am not bowing here, not soft enough. He is not a robot though-good boy. I love that he is absolutly not afraid of cars. It makes trails and fetching the mail so much easier. We are plodding along on our finals routine...I am not a routine person, or it is not coming to me yet any how...It will. We are showing at Green Acres Sat at their schooling show, maybe see you then.....My girls are also showing too.

Hello Trainers,

Family ride day!

We decided to take both girls for a stroll today...Ellie rode Muzzy, and Gracie rode Mo...I ponied her off of Weston. He didn't mind leading the odd little horse, he just didn't like him to pass us..He was very good. We opened all gates. We did a quick trail ride, and then went up to the arena to ride a while-this summer is going to be a blast! The girls did great. Doug's parents came down from Wa-and played with the kids.

We then went for a great trail ride. We played like kids, running through the woods. I had the reins dropped loping down the trail-Weston was loving it. The best was how he was perfectly calm, as soon as he was asked to walk. It was too much fun. I can't wait till the girls can run through the woods with me. We crossed water and plastic bags, jumped over a elk leg bone. Beautiful day beautiful ride. Tommarow we will go back to work. I think.....We just enjoyed the day.

Weston the Rodeo star!

Whew. What a night. Weston and I got an invite to ride all over the Valentine's Rodeo at Albany Expo tonite. Thank you Howell Rodeo-you guys are the best. We saddled up and wandered the expo center-Weston wondering what I was up to. We entered the ring for warm ups with the gutsy barrel girls. I can't believe I use to go that fast. He was excited, but not bad until everyone started running away from him. He thought we should go to, then we passed the pen of sheep. Whew-I say again. He took off bolted a third of the arena, then got it  back together. We did that twice, I thought it was the loud speakers which were booming, but I HAD NOT YET SEEN THE SHEEP OF DEATH.

The he ralaxed. We walked, trotted and cantered around with the "can chasers." He worked great-my favorite moment was when the horses were all scared of the bucking bull ride-Weston went up and stood in the corner by it to help the other horses relax about it. I had to laugh.

Once the rodeo started I rode around out side in the dark a bit. Then I waited to see Weston not react at all to the crowd noise, and got ready to go home. He is so cute the way he nickers glad to see me when ever I return, just like my other horses do when they see another horse. I am so honored to be a part of his herd. It is a gift I don't take lightly. I know my job is to keep him safe and learning.

I did have the honor of meeting two wonderful Mustang owners this morning who cam e to the open house, but at our barn in stead of Lynn's. Their dedication to the breed is amazing. It was such a pleasur eto talk with them, and we gave them a mini demo of Weston the Wonder horse. They know many other contestants too. They are also the people responcible for bringing Extreme Mustang Makeover to Oregon. Thank you!

Weston's open house in Corvallis....a sucess!

Over all consenses he is better behaved than most domestic horses. It is hard for a horse to go somewhere completly new and go to work. He was very good. Canter was not perfect, is had a lot of energy. Did great cross overs, two tracking, loved her bridge. It was great. They had chairs at one end, and were right there in the arena. Weston loved the end getting to maul people for loves.  Everyone was moved by his progress, and his mind, and movement. Mostly they love his personality. Juli was ready to take him home.

I turned him loose at first and he really liked the free time, he was not sure I should catch him and put him to work. He gave in, and he was such a good boy. We taught people how to teach the bow, and then had Weston Lay down too. It was great to see great friends. I can't belive the eye opening Weston does for the mustang breed. He opened mine so wide it hurts! We answered a ton of questions. Got a few more people excited about expo-and those sweat shirts look incredible!

On the spoiled side Weston was not sure about loading into the trailer in the dark. He stood outside the trailer nickering at me, so he trained me. I went up and turned on the lights, then he hopped right in. Spoiled or smart-I call him smart.

Go team Weston!
