Wessy

Wes has a cough and goes to see the doc tommarow-too much running around. He was doing great, but a cough or two scares me. He coughed once today and it's off to the doc's tommarow. You know I wait longer to take my kids to the doc's and they have insurnace! Ha ha. I will let you know.

He was perfect today though. I was able to teach from him very well today and show a student with her 4 yr old domestic horse where she can be and to inspire her to reach with Weston. If he can do it she can too. We showed her our bridless turns and stops from canter and trot and how to get them. It was fun. Better stops through body-and less is always more!

We also worked on our finals trick too, He is fearless when I am on the ground-mounted he was unsure of himself. Funny I read a book, the Tao of Equs, and a story in there reminds me of him. He is worried about me, and tries to take care of me. If I say we can he does. If I wonder for an instant he is protective. He is very allert and so intune with his surrounding. He always knows what is coming long before me.

Okay I am hooked! I love the horse! How could you not when I come outside he neighs no matter how many times in a day I walk out, and trots up to greet me. Okay worse if I take my time coming to him, he talk like a stud nickering and dancing at the gate like a passage-too much.

If he gets a clean bill of health tommarow we are of to let him full out on the beach, if not I have tons of ground work we can do. Either way it all work how it should, right.

I am selling two of my babies so I can justify attempting to purchase this horse! If you or anyone is looking for a top notch horse, or a horse with potential to be an all-around horse-let me know.

I am also looking for sponcers interested in helping us along our journey. If you would like to be a sponcer and have us carry your name on our travels, and to Horse Expo-email me sealrockstables@hotmail.com , or call 541-563-2098

Weston goes to the "Barrel" clinic....

I saddle him up and hauled him an hour away to a barrel clinic at Bright Horizons stables. He was a good boy, in the small area with plenty of horses. It was very good for him to see horses get freaked out, and realize thier problem was not ours. He got lots of lovings, and I am sorry to Char-Weston tried to eat the fur on your jacket! Everyone needs a little mustang slobber though. He picked up his canter from a standstill and took correct leads. His manners were wonderful, and his stops were instant. I can't ask for more. My favorite was the baby stroller coming right up behind us, he looked behind him let out his breath and went back to sleep.

I am too proud, this evening I jumped on bareback in a halter to ride him in and he could care less. Did beautiful turns, and stops, backing in juust a halter.

Yeasterday we blew Doug away! I rode Weston bridless at a walk trot and canter, he turns when I ask, and stops on a dime! He know what leads are now and Friday we got our first flying change. I have not asked him again yet. I want to take him to the beach and really open him up now. Vikki and Ron made me really jelous with thier beach ride on that last summer like day we had.

I am going to set up an open house date to show off Weston and his progress, I will let you all know soon and hop eto have you there to cheer!

Weston Today
Good ride cowboy. Weston is picking up both leads correct, and balanced. He was able to focus very well with kids playing, and Rikki Riding too. He worked to Abba and loved it. Great day for the boy. Good work. Going easily into the bow. Clipped a ton more-now it would classify as a hunter clip. I also filled a water in the barn the whole time I was clipping and flooded my barn. I was so into time with Weston.

We had a great trail ride today-4 hours with the magnificent 7. I jumped at the chance to ride with my fav girls, and get Weston in a big group trail ride. I started out with walking up the hill off, still not likeing the slick hill....(I should mention this winter I rolled hank over myself, a few times downa steep slick hill andit ended with him pinning me to the gound on a very steep hill for a long time before I decided to rol him up over my head and down the hill so he wouldn't kill me getting up-closest call in say forever) (so I don't like to take babies up steep slick hills.) He got worried when they rounded the corner ahead of us, started to trot up and leave me :( and I had to stop him which he didn't love. He was very anxiuos, until we rounded the corner and there they were. I had put him at the back rememberin his initial fear of horse back people. Once we were at eh top we rode through the trees fine in the rear, and then lead most of the ride.

We showed the group a new cut off trail. Has that great plastic to walk on, and the big puddles to cross. Then we headed up to the ridge op for the view. Road dead ends at a locked gate, we start heading back, I ask if they want to fallow a cut off I had never seen. Gravel cut off. Rounding the corner I knew where we were, I rode this area growing up. I knew it looped around. We were going to at least fallow it until it looked to over grown. We made it to were I knew we were close. A tree was down I sat on it with another rider to get everyone through. It held it down enought o walk over it.

One more down tree Weston walked right over it. We rode down a long slick hill and bang we were on a county rd, and then our street almost! Well as I tyold them the gait by the cattle gaurd was still there, the road was no there any more passed the gate. My guess is no one since us has used thet trail. Well 2 hours back or 30 minutes. We found a "way around". We had a huge tree to go over, Weston could care less. He did get to fallow someone though. Blackberyy bushes, and a gate or two. Now we were on the road way back. We went about 2 miles right along the way. Passing cars after the fair grounds work were not a big deal. He was not reallly sure what planet cows come from as he passed our cows in the bottem fields. He was tense passing them and very alert. He was a very tierd sweet boy when we got home. It was  a great ride with lots of laughs!

I have been a lazy blogger! Weston has been a great horse.

Friday I went for a great trail ride with Michelle, lots of exploring some troting and cantering. I am not so sure Weston Loves Her gelding-Diesel. It was great. I did get off for the big hills, up and down....just not sure I would trust him to be balanced with my weight too on our slick hills. He was a good boy. Great ride. I am slowly body clipping him at this point.

Sat the 4-her went to thier OSET meeting in Newport. I am transportation. Weston and I love to tagg along. SO we worked in the field N. of the arena. Not as flat or nice as the arena is. He did so well. Cars wizing past, people and dogs going by as we worked. He is very in tune with the world around him. Very. He know something is coming way before it does, so he is not worried when it gets there. He also did not like the one over stressed oset kids horse. When she ran, he had to stop and watch. I am not sure if he felt the horses stress, or how sad I was about that horses story.

We had graet trot work, he collects so easily and like to travel that way. We cantered laps in the big open field, and figure 8's. He back responded to legs like a dream with mounds of distraction. We had only one opsy-my fault (aren't they all) I said in my head let's go look at this scarey object, and he went oh it is scarey. We walked up to it ever so carefully-then he bolted-which he has not done in a very long time (ever under saddle). He bolted 4 strides, funny part was I felt hi thinking and making choices many in sucha  tiny time. Then he caught sight of the burn area right ahead and did the best 6 foot slidding stop ever. Sat there and went what now. He is so funny. He never worried me, he would not try in any way to hurt me.

He loaded and haule dlike a dream. i always put him in first so he dosen't have to fallow other horses. He is funny. Still nickers if I step away to get my saddle out of the trailer, he nickers as I return.

Naughty Weston.....

Shooting my blasto cap gun. What a day. Weston decided he didn't love Ellie today. When she came running up toward his hind, to pet him, he kicked for the first time ever. Ugh. When I brought her up, me in between he said he'd get her again. He did get his first repremand. Ellie wanted to ride him today still though after I was done. He was great.

He is now taking both leads balanced and able to just keep cantering, funny how fast he learned balance. Whata horse. I just can't help push a little-we tried a flying change. HE was not sure what i wanted but he counter cantered gleefully. He also is doing great figure 8's at the 8, and interupted, and simple changes. We started the work for passage today also. He had such drive and energy. What a boy. I am loving riding to music, we both really feel it and it shows.

OMG! Weston won the SIlver Dollar trail class!

I am so excited I could cry. I knew his only mistake was me forgetting the back at the end. WOW! What a horse. I am too proud. I already was as he handled himself beautifully. Wow.

Today I wanted to ride in the arena or  hit the trails, as it was a beautiful day here. No baby sitter, and the girls are feeling sick, so I rode up and down the driveway. Shot off him while he ate grass. He is so funny. Stood up for a pic with Vikki, I will add it later. I did clip his neck to match his head he looks great. Veryt gurulla-esk right now. He is funny he snorted at the clippers and relaxed immidiiatly for clipping.

Weston takes both leads balanced-Yippy!

What a great break through day. All those days and now he was ready. Both leads. The right was harder to get, but laps at a canter! Great trot, and fine control coming along very well. Ellie was working on distractability-she was waving a tarp, then wrapping her dog in it who then ran around tarped and we concentrated. They climbed the wals and made all the noise they could. We rode to Abba today-it was not as good as I had hoped to ride to...

I am excited to share the link to see our show pic-36 days...I am blown away! What a goooooooood boy. What a horse.

Ellie rode him again at the end, and both girl rode him down the hill again. What a doll. I love the way he talks to me. I am obsesing about our finals music as I know we are gonna make it! Weston is the best one!
